What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture uses very thin, flexible needles inserted into specific target points, most often on the back, that stimulate your body’s diverse functions. Does it hurt?
Acupuncture rarely hurts, as the needles are very fine. The insertion of the needles can be a bit uncomfortable. However, once they’re in, they’re pain-free, and you get to lay down in blissful silence for 30-45 minutes. If you do have any needles that feel uncomfortable after insertion, let your acupuncturist know as sometimes they can be repositioned more comfortably.
How does it help with insomnia?
Acupuncture is a holistic approach, so it’s about treating the whole body, not just insomnia. Insomnia is likely a symptom of the body being out of balance. Acupuncture aims to get your body functioning at its best, and as a result, you will experience much better sleep.
